Judy Badger
Judy has been our devoted Bookkeeper for
almost 20 years. She maintains
our consignor accounts and assists with buyer check-out following each
auction.
Terry Beye
Terry has been a part of the Ivey-Selkirk
family since 1984. He is a licensed auctioneer and a senior
appraiser focusing his attention in our Furniture and Collectibles &
Memorabilia Departments. His interests include American and
English Furniture, American art pottery, bronzes, marbles, and Persian
carpets. Terry is a native St. Louisan and graduated from
the University of Missouri at St. Louis with a BS in Business.
Barbara Chambers
Mark Howald
With more than 20 years of experience in the
auction business, Mark is our Executive Vice-President and heads our
Twentieth Century Design Department In the last five years he has
transformed the scene of traditional fine art and antiques at
Ivey-Selkirk by making a splash in the mid-century sales market with names
like Greene & Greene, Samuel Marx, Jean Dunand, Louis Marjorelle,
Alexander Calder, Ernest Trova and Andy Warhol. He continues to
build strong, professional relationships throughout our community,
lending his knowledge to charity auctions, appraisals and lecture
series. Mark received
his bachelors degree in Business from Southern Illinois University in 1983 and immediately began working as a
deposit clerk for Selkirk's.
Malcolm Ivey
Our President and Owner, Malcolm F. Ivey, has twenty years of experience in the
auction industry and his involvement with Selkirk's has come
full-circle. Formerly the Vice-President of Selkirk's,
Mr. Ivey left the business in 1985 and pursued a career in the
banking industry, administering personal trusts. He
returned fifteen years later for Phillips as managing director
of their newly acquired Saint Louis saleroom. Mr. Ivey seized
the opportunity to purchase the company in 2002, and has since
returned it to its roots as a family-owned and operated auction
firm, grounded in its personal attention, and focused on the
future.
Jill Keck
Susan Kime
Susan has been the Senior Fine Arts
Specialist with Ivey-Selkirk for more than 10 years. She joined
the company after finishing her Master's degree in Art History from
Louisiana State University in 1994. Susan realized her passion for
19th Century American and European paintings, prints and drawings while
receiving her bachelors degree from Loyola University and studying at
the Centre International des Etudes Francaise.
Danuta Krol
Danuta, our expert of all things
porcelain, silver and glass, has been our Decorative Arts Specialist since 1984.
Born in Poland, Danuta graduated from of the University of Lodz with a
degree in Economics and studied Polytechniques before moving with her
two children to the United States. A month later she began working
at Selkirk's cleaning furniture while learning to speak English.
Over the years she has acquired a considerable knowledge of antiques and
objects and today researches, appraises and catalogues all of the
decorative arts for our quarterly auctions.
Amy Lawch, GG, ISA AM
Amy joined Ivey-Selkirk as our
Houston Representative in 2005. She manages our Houston office and
is responsible for business activity in Texas and Mexico. Ms.
Lawch is an accredited appraiser with the designation of AM from the
International Society of Appraisers and a graduate gemologist of the GIA
with a specialization in antique and period jewelry. She
frequently lectures on jewelry and the auction process and has taught at
the Annual Antique & Period Jewelry Gemstone Conference. Amy is an
active member of The Society of Jewelry Historians, Gemological
Institute of America Alumni Association, Jewelers of America and the
Jewelers Vigilance Committee. Prior to her foray in jewelry, Amy
was an international banker for many years working for several foreign
banks. She has a BA in English Literature and an MBA in Finance.
She is also active in a number of local charity and arts organizations
in Houston.
Marlene Marcella
Marlene joined Selkirk's in 1978 as an
administrative assistant and remains an instrumental part of our
operations. Her years of experience working with catalogue layout
and production combined with her appreciation for fine art, antiques and
cultural happenings has prepared her for her more recent involvement
coordinating Advertising, Public Relations and Special Events. She
works tirelessly behind the scenes organizing and editing inventory and
images for our catalogues and contributes greatly to the "look" of
Ivey-Selkirk.
Scott McKinney
Scott serves as one of our chief
Auctioneers as well as Property and Shipping Manager. He is a graduate of
Southern Illinois University at Carbondale with a bachelors degree in
Liberal Arts.
Gary Miller
Gary Miller has more than 15 years of
experience in the auction business as our Rug and Tapestry Specialist.
His general experience with antiques also allows him to assist in our Furniture and Decorative Arts
Departments. Gary earned a
bachelors degree in both Political Science and Secondary Education from
the University of Missouri, St. Louis.
Paul Oligschlaeger
Paul has held a variety of responsibilities
with Ivey-Selkirk for more than 5 years. Assisting with
Kara Pollnow
Kara Pollnow joined the Ivey-Selkirk family
in the fall of 2001 after graduating from Vanderbilt University with a
bachelors degree in Art History. She has a strong passion for 19th
& Early 20th Century American Paintings and enjoys the ever-changing
atmosphere of the auction business. Kara primarily focuses her
attention in the Fine Arts Department and brings a strong eye for detail
to our advertising department and catalogue production. Recently,
she has become involved in increasing the exposure of Ivey-Selkirk
through the design of our newly updated web site.
Doug Schrader
Doug Schrader has been helping make each
auction a success behind the scenes for over 10 years. Receiving
consignments, organizing, setting up and breaking down the gallery
floor, overseeing each photography shoot, and generally keeping things
running smoothly on a daily basis. Doug works to
ensure that our consignments are seen in the best possible way- through
carefully set up photographs, and well-planned floor lay-outs during
preview. He enjoys working with American and English Furniture as
well as Sports Memorabilia and often volunteers his time for charity
appraisal events.
Josh Wells
Josh joined Ivey-Selkirk in the Spring of
2005. He has been a welcomed addition to our floor staff, helping
wherever needed receiving consignments and deliveries, setting up our
galleries for auction and locating purchases for pick up. He is a
graduate of Illinois State University with a degree in Criminal Justice.
Kate Wilkins
Kate Wilkins is an invaluable addition to
our Ivey-Selkirk family. Joining us in the summer of 2002,
Kate began organizing and tagging the decorative art objects for each
auction. Because of this exposure, she has gained
a knowledge of the porcelain, silver and glass objects and an understanding of the auction market. In addition to
auction set up, Kate assists with research, cataloguing and condition
reports for the Decorative Arts Department. A graduate of the
University of Missouri, Columbia with a bachelors degree in Fashion
Merchandising, Kate shows a diligence for organizing and managing
client consignments.
Andy Wright
Andy Wright has been a welcome addition to
our growing 20th Century Design Department. A graduate of Eastern
Illinois University with an interest in American Mid-Century furniture,
Andy has quickly become accustomed to the fast-paced auction business
and booming market for Modern Design. Working alongside Mark
Howald, Andy has had the opportunity to bring some exciting contemporary
works to the forefront of the auction market with the recent sales of an
Ernest Trova sculpture, Jean Dunand vase, Alexander Calder mobile, and
Louis Marjorelle cabinet.
